Alicia Hucul Obituary
Alicia Phyllis Hucul
(nee Nahnybida)
November 20, 1949 – January 2, 2024
To my family and friends, I would like to share some of my life history.
I was born in Benito, Manitoba to the late Michael and Helen Nahnybida. We all moved to Winnipeg when I was very young and eventually settled in West Kildonan. This is where I attended school and eventually met William Hucul in 1967.
We married on October 31, 1970. Yes, it was Halloween and we were even presented an apple from Jerry and Louise Polson. Unfortunately, the love of my life passed away on July 17, 2012.
I worked at Greb Shoes for awhile until we started our family. I remained at home to raise our children. We were blessed with Jeff (Tanya), Laura (Dwayne) and Tracy (Tony). They gave us six grandchildren: Macayla (Zach), Merrick, McKenna, Braden (Alisa), Harley (Savannah) and Harris. They kept us on our toes and made us feel young at heart. I also leave behind my brother-in-law Gordon Hucul and mine and William’s lifelong friends Helen and Don Slavuta. In 2022 I became a great grandmother to Amelia which was awesome.
Then in June 1990 we decided to make a change and moved to Matlock, Mb. We both enjoyed the wide-open spaces and all the wildlife that came into our yard. I enjoyed spending time with my family and friends. I thank them very much for being there when I needed help with anything. Love you guys. I also enjoyed tending my flowers, reading, puzzles, bird watching and mowing the acre of grass.
This is part of my story which is the most important to me. Now I leave you to go and see William in heaven so that we can dance together to our song “Unchained Melody”.
Cremation has taken place, and I will now reside at St. Andrew’s on the Red Churchyard. There will be no service as I have requested to my children.
In my memory if you wish to do so you can make a donation to the Children’s Burn Fund.
Drop in to see us sometime. Sorry we can’t offer you a cup of coffee or a Club beer LOL.
The family would like to thank Tracy for all her love, care and support during this time. Also mom’s family doctor, Dr. Dare, the palliative team Dr. Puff and nurse Heidi and homecare.
