Mathew Oswald of Napanee at age 87, born Matyas Ozwald, in Csatalja Hungary April 3, 1935, passed away peacefully at Kingston Health Sciences Centre in Kingston, Ontario on January 28, 2023 at the age of 87. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Margaret Helen Oswald of 57 years and his two daughters Mia Whitworth and Natasha Carter, son-in laws Colin Whitworth and Paul Carter, grandsons Colin McLaughlin, Brendan Carter and Owen Carter. Mat was an avid outdoorsman, loved his woodworking, fishing and hiking. He had a thirst for knowledge and never stopped learning. The family would like to thank the staff on Connell 3 for the outstanding care provided to Mat during his short time there. As well, a thank you goes out to Briargate Retirement Residence in Amherstview ON, for their outstanding care and support during his residence there. Mat will be cremated and no service will be held as per his wishes; however memorial donations can be made in his memory to the Alzheimer Society.
