Bruce’s Obituary
It is with great sadness & heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Bruce Green, at his home, on January 24, 2023 at the age of 80 years.
James Bruce Green was born October 4, 1942 in Carnduff, Saskatchewan and was the first child of James Laurence Green and Margaret Emily Simpson. His siblings, Wayne, Willene, Kay, Gwen and Peter followed over the next few years. Bruce started school in Carnduff and finished his schooling in Duchess, Alberta, as the young family had moved from Carnduff, Saskatchewan to Duchess, Alberta.
Bruce’s early working years had him doing various jobs around the Duchess area, then going north to work for Gibbs Transport. As a result of an accident, when in the Athabasca Hospital, Bruce met his future wife, Kay Hills, a certified nursing aide, from Peace River, AB. They were married in Peace River in July 1966 and lived in Duchess until 1970 when they moved to Peace River, where their son, Percy Lawrence (Larry) Green was born on September 6, 1970. Bruce & Kay bought a farm in Marie-Reine, AB in 1972. Bruce’s time was spent farming in the summer and welding for Caribou Construction in the winter. Most of his winter work was in the Arctic, a time he would always reminisce about and his welding skills earned him the nickname of “Grinder”, which he was renowned for. Bruce also helped local farmers, Doug Proud, Yves & Bev Tailleur, to name a few, with spring work, harvest and cattle operations.
Bruce’s wife Kay passed away October 14, 2009. Bruce later met, Phyllis and they were married in 2011.
Bruce will always be remembered as a very hardworking, kind hearted man with a wonderful sense of humor & amazing smile. No matter what he was doing, he would always be ready to lend a hand.
Bruce is survived by his wife Phyllis, son, Larry & wife, Nicola, Phyllis’s daughter, Anna Ostaszewski, sisters: Margaret Willene Stuckey, Kathleen (Kay) Leslie Craney, Gwendolyn Alice Martel and brother: Larry Peter Green.
