Gerald Francis Lavin “Gerry”

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Gerald “Gerry” Lavin died peacefully surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of 69 years to Agnes (nee Ducharme). Loving father to Mike Lavin (Helen), Kathy Moore (Thomas), Maureen Schuurman (Henry), James Lavin (Fran Ritossa) and Patty Ball (Ed). Loving grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by his parents John and Rose Lavin (nee Rivard); siblings Edmund (Theresa), Leo (Pat), Catherine, Margaret Lesperance, Jim (Gloria), Marie Olar (late Harry & Ernie), Albert (Julie) and Bob (late Annette & Nancy). He will also be missed by his sisters Cecile Hartman-Mayrand (late Richard & Dan), Jenny McCandless (Collin). Predeceased by his in-laws Bernie (late Jack Dennis Ducharme, Donald (late Marge), Leo (late Rita & Claire) and Irvin (Julie). Also missed by Shirley Gurzo (late Steve) and David (Lynda).
Gerald lived a life filled with hard work, dedication, and love for his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father/grandfather and respected member of the community. Gerald’s passion for farming and business was evident to all who knew him. He had a knack for making meaningful deals and had a genuine love for the land. Anytime during the year, you could see him walking the fields. Gerald’s commitment to his family was unwavering, and his legacy will live on through the values he instilled in his loved ones. He leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A visitation for Gerry will be held at the Kennedy Funeral Home Ltd. (519-776-7378) 128 Talbot St. North in Es on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary’s Parish in Maidstone, on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment at St. Mary’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Windsor Cancer Foundation, Second Chance Ministry, Right to Life or the Hospice of Windsor.
