Doreen’s Obituary
Mabel Doreen Bragg, aged 90, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22nd. Born at home in River Philip on June 26th, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Doug and Alberta “Bertie” Demings. Doreen and Doug Bragg married in 1952. She and Doug enjoyed traveling, entertaining at home and at their camp on Simpson Lake. They especially enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Doreen had many hobbies including square dancing, fishing, ceramics, curling, gardening, and singing. She was a very active member of the Cumberland Regional School Board and fought hard to keep the Collingwood School open. Her determination helped the school remain open many years after it was slated to be closed. She was also a tireless worker for the Collingwood United Church. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Tizzard, Collingwood; son, Darryl Bragg (Tammy), Springhill; sister, Tina Haney (Reg); brothers, Gerry Demings (Bep); Alan Demings (Fran); sister, Diane MacIntosh (Rod); brother-in-law, John (Judy) Bragg; sister-in-law, Carolyn Glennie (Jim); daughters-in-law, Cathy, Carolyn, Wendy, Crystal, and Janet; grandchildren, Tom Tizzard (Vanessa); Jason Tizzard; Julia Lavers (Ron); Stephen Bragg (Trina); Leanne Bragg; David Bragg; Christopher Bragg (Leanne); Kari Bragg (Klaus); Jamie Bragg; Michael Bragg (Akeesha); Peter Bragg (Angela); Josh Bragg (Sarah); Courtney Bragg (Brock); Andrew Bragg (Celena); Daniel Bragg (Jessica); Brooke Oickle (Ryan); Chelsea Graves (Matthew); and many nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Doug Bragg, sons, Ross, Paul, and Carl Bragg; sister, Charlotte (Lottie) Wood; brother-in-law, Bill Wood; sister, Doris Follett; brother-in-law, Lloyd Follett; brother, Gray Demings; sister-in-law, Jean Demings; sister-in-law, Joy Demings; sister-in-law, Kay Sherman; brother-in-law, Carl Sherman; son-in-law, Garry Tizzard; and granddaughter, Meghan Bragg. A special thanks to the VON for their care while she was at home and to the staff at Gables who were so kind to Doreen. Visitation will be from 7-9 pm Friday, January 5th with funeral service at 2 pm Saturday, January 6th, both at MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. Donations may be made to the Collingwood United Church or a charity of your choice.
