The passing of Richard “Dick” Alexander O’Donnell of McNamee, NB, husband of Merva (McAleer) O’Donnell, occurred on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at York Care Centre in Fredericton. Born on May 5, 1937 in McNamee, NB, he was the son of the late Thomas and Sadie (Price) O’Donnell. Dick was a woodsworker, hunting guide and fishing guide.
In addition to his loving wife of 66 years, Dick is survived by his daughters, Adrianne McAllister (Terry) of Brockville, ON, Tara Wilson (Mike) of Fredericton, Tamara Boucher (Jeremy) of Ripples, Roma Lavigne (Leon) of Durham Bridge; son, Gene O’Donnell of McNamee; grandchildren, Javan, Natalie, Robert, Callie, Alexander and Zachary; great-grandchildren, Harper, Jaylynn, Gus, Koen, Archer, Beau, Lu and Fred; sisters, Sandra Storey of Storeytown, Grace Wilkinson (Bill) of McNamee, Vivian O’Donnell of New Bandon, Rhonda O’Donnell of Halifax, NS; brother, Herman O’Donnell of New Bandon; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased in death by his brothers, Lawson, Blake and Wallace O’Donnell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of York Funeral Home’s Miramichi Valley Chapel. At Dick’s request, there will be no public services. Interment will take place in New Bandon United Cemetery, at a later date. Remembrances can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com
