John Bernard “Bernie” MacDonald of Guysborough, passed away on December 18, 2023.
Born in Inverness, he was a son of A.D and Dorothy (Doucette) MacDonald.
He is survived by the love his life, Betty; children, Josie, Emily, Jesse-Lynn, Jase and stepdaughter, Madison Brophy; mother, Dorothy MacDonald; siblings, Doretta (Allan), Keith (Amanda), Paul, and Rachel (Trevor); and an extended family of nieces and nephews, Aunts and Uncles.
He was predeceased by his father, A.D MacDonald; brother, D.A. MacDonald; Paternal grandparents, Dougie and Gertie MacDonald, Maternal grandparents, Mary Sarah and Tommy Doucette.
Bernie was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his children in the great outdoors, fishing and hunting and loved to play basketball with his little boy. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing old trucks. He was a hard worker and very proud to be a pipefitter, at Union Local 682. He baked a fine batch of biscuits!
Cremation has taken place. Close family members and friends are welcome to attend Bernie’s Visitation on Thursday December 21, 2023 from 5:00-9:00pm at Green’s Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral Mass will be offered on December 29, 2023 at 11am from Stella Maris Church, Creignish with Rev. Barrett Clare-Johnson, presiding. Memorial donations may be made to the family.
