With sadness we announce the passing of Eric Jul Sorensen, husband of Joanne Johnson of Kingsley, NB, on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton. Born on November 26, 1960 in Windsor, ON, he was the son of Aase (Pederson) Sorensen and the late Verner Sorensen. Eric worked several jobs throughout his life. He spent many years as a sawyer and finished his working career at the DECRH. He was an avid hockey player, enjoyed 4-wheeling with Joanne and the boys, camping and hunting and just loved being in the woods. He loved being with his family and Joanne’s family, had a great sense of humour with the biggest heart. He enjoyed a love of music and attending concerts, if he truly liked the band. His kindness was immeasurable.
In addition to his mother and his loving wife of 30 years, Eric is survived by his son, Joshua (Sophie) of Montreal; grandchildren, Jeraden Sorensen, Conrad Daigle, Amelia Smith-Sorensen; siblings, Gitte MacVicar (Don) of Vancouver, BC, Finn Sorensen (Georgette) of Belle River, ON, Lillian Henderson (Brian) of Surrey, BC, Lis Sorensen (Greg) of Windsor, ON, John Sorensen of Windsor, ON; God-children, Nichole, Aaron and Emma Jordan; many nieces and nephews.
Besides his father, Eric was predeceased by his son, Jeremy Sorensen; sister, Ann Sorensen; and brother-in-law, Norm Mazerolle.
A Celebration of Eric’s Life will be held at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton, NB on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 2 pm. Interment will take place at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Autism Connections Fredericton or any Homeless Shelter.
