Delbert’s Obituary
Boudreau, Delbert “Del” – age 79, Yarmouth, N.S., passed away peacefully at the Yarmouth Hospital on December 13th, 2023. Born February 6th, 1944 in Wedgeport, he was the second son of Valois Boudreau and Leona (Doucet) Boudreau. Del was quite active and passionate in his work life. He worked in Ontario at Northern Electric, when he returned to Nova Scotia, was a lobster and scallop fisherman, owned a small general store, and spent most of his working years in the insurance industry until retirement. The life insurance industry is where Del found a true work passion, at first as a highly successful advisor with Assumption Life, which led him to becoming a regional manager in charge of multiple agencies throughout the province for that company. He then developed and grew his own local Insurance agency (Del Agency Ltd), which he proudly ran until his retirement in 2008.
Del was also very involved in his community throughout the years, having done work with various organizations and boards, including Alcoholics Anonymous, the Royal Canadian Legion, and the Municipality of Argyle, first as a councilor then as deputy warden. He was also highly involved in politics at all levels, having worked with many candidates throughout the years.
Del developed strong relationships with many people, both through business and personally. He was a man of high integrity and loyalty. Those who knew him, were well aware of his strong personality and of the love he held for his entire family.
Del was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Sally (Cottreau) Boudreau, on July 16th 2023, his father Valois, mother Leona and step-mother Rosaline. He is survived by brothers Patrick, Ken, Tom, and sister Cheryl. He is also survived by daughter Leona (Floyd) d’Entremont, son Calvin (Tracy) Boudreau and Scotty (Deborah) Boudreau, as well as grandchildren Jean-Marc, Giselle, Riley, Carson, Dominic, Madison, Kaleb and Emilee. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Emma, Graydon, Léo, and baby due in March 2024.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. Visitations will take place on Monday, December 18th from 6-8 p.m. and December 19th from 10-11 a.m. A funeral service will be held on December 19th, at 11 a.m. all in Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport.
