Marion Fraser Obituary
The family of Marion Fraser is heartbroken to announce her unexpected but peaceful passing, in the arms of her adoring husband of 63 years, Hugh, on December 9th, 2023. Left to mourn are her precious daughters Joanna Head (Mike) of Rocky Mountain House, Alberta and Beth Hounsome (Dave) of Carlisle, East Flamborough. Treasured beyond measure are her grandchildren Simon and Melissa Head in Alberta and Matthew and Samantha Hounsome in East Flamborough. She was predeceased by her parents Dr. Arthur Gee and his wife Marjory of Lowestoft, England. Survived by her brother Richard Gee of Lowestoft, England.
Known to many as Maf (see her initials!) she was a wonderfully accomplished person despite calling herself “a stay-at-home mom.” She graduated from the London School of Graphic Art in the swinging 1960’s London, England. Her home is filled with her superb water colours, oil, sculptures and her fantastic horse-riding costume dolls. Her garden, particularly in Spring was a riot of colour with many wild nooks and chaotic crannies. She was a brilliant seamstress volunteering at Westfield Heritage Village for years in the costume department and their gardens, while winning flower arrangement ribbons for her excellent arrangement skills with the Flamborough Horticultural Society. A farmer with her daughter Joanna raising mohair from Angora goats led to a business making mohair wigs for antique dolls.
She had friends all over the world of all ages with whom she kept in touch, some of whom were as close as family. But her greatest joy was her marriage and her family for who she had a love that was fierce and constant.
Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown, on Friday December 15, 2023 from 11 a.m. until the time of Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Reception to follow. A private family interment will follow at Brock Road Cemetery. If desired, a donation in memory of Marion to your favourite charity would be appreciated by the family.
