Wood, David Ronald – 84, Oxford. we are saddened to announce the passing of our cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Dave Wood. Dave is survived by his children, Trudy (Dave) Reid; Brian Wood (Maryanne); Ann (Doug) Patriquin; Julie (Andy) Blake; Janelle (Shaun) Rushton; sister, Terry (Mike) Deveaux; brother, Danny (June) Wood; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several special nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and life long partner of 60 years, Beverly Ann (Hollis) Wood; grandson, Daniel Patriquin, father, Ronald Wood; mother, Margaret (Black) Wood. Dave’s main priority in life was his beautiful family and he loved any opportunity to have a family get together at home, at the beach or on the mountain. Dave and Bev traveled a lot in their retirement years and enjoyed many winters in Florida. He was affectionately known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and their families. He was a hard working businessman, always found time to enjoy woodworking, hunting, fishing, boating and was a good friend to many. He loved to be with others in the great outdoors, especially his best friend and brother, Danny. They covered a lot of ground together and especially loved hanging out at their favourite place, Silica Lake camp. He always had a special spot in his heart for his little sister, Terry. Dad loved a good joke, loved to tease, was kind, compassionate, and full of humor. He was strong with a soft side. He taught us love, respect, how to work hard and to never give up no matter how tough the road ahead might be. He was our “Rock” and will be so missed. Love you Dad. Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, December 13 in MacDiarmid’s Funeral Home & Crematorium. A private interment will be held at a later date.
