Leonard’s Obituary
WILLIAMS, Leonard Harold – 87, of Hebron, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Yarmouth Regional Hospital with family by his side. Born on August 16, 1936, in Halifax, he was a son of the late James (“Jim”) Williams, of Redruth, Cornwall, England, and Beatrice Williams (née Baker).
Leonard, alongside his former wife Anne, raised their four children in Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia, where he was employed as a supervisor for Volvo. He also took great pride in serving his community as a volunteer firefighter and was the Deputy Chief of the Head of Chezzetcook Fire Department for several years. In 1976, he moved with his wife and children to her hometown of Plymouth, Nova Scotia, where he eventually retired as a carpenter.
A believer in healthy and simple living, Leonard enjoyed reading as part of his daily routine to keep his mind sharp. He also maintained his own gardens for many years, growing a variety of fruits and vegetables for clean eating.
Leonard is survived by his loving children, Roger (Corine) Williams, Hebron; Darrell (Amanda) Williams, Upper Wedgeport; David (Crystal) Williams, Plymouth; Allan (Ling) Williams, North Chegoggin; grandchildren, Faith, Roger, Daneesha, Marissa, Aaron, Samantha, Christian, and Yucen (step-granddaughter); great-grandchildren, Monique, Stella, Élise, Maxime, and Violet. Leonard was predeceased by his former wife, Anne Marie Elizabeth Williams (née Newell), as well as his brother, James “Robert” Williams, and sisters, Kathleen Pokjowy, and Dora Boutilier.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023, with a visitation before the funeral. Both the visitation and service will be held in the funeral home in Wedgeport, Deacon Bruce Hubbard officiating. A burial will be held in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Wedgeport, following the service. Flowers are welcomed and donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
