It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Baka, a beloved father, papa and master of many trades. Frank was born on May 19, 1928, and left this world while hospitalized, with family at his side on Tuesday, December 4, 2023.
An avid card player and lover of sweets, Frank’s skill and passion for cards created countless memories filled with (not always!) friendly competition. Beyond his prowess at the card table, he was a true fixer of everything. Whether it was a leaky faucet, a faulty wiring system, or a broken appliance, he had a solution. His hands were not only skilled in the art of construction but also in the delicate intricacies of plumbing and electrical work.
In his earlier years, Frank was a talented home builder, contributing to countless residences that stand as a testament to his skill.
Family was important to Frank. He leaves behind a legacy of love and a lifetime of cherished moments. Frank is survived by his three children: Richard (Beverly) Baka, Susan Baka and Nancy (John) Drong. Seven grandchildren; Lee (Liz), Courtney (Ebony), Shannon (Fiona), Amberley (Ben), Lindy (Adam), Nathan (Roxy), Nolan (Noah) and five great-grandchildren; Stanley, Wesley, Logan, Kylie and Penny. Survived by his sister-in-law Maria (the late Bill), niece Cindy (the late Bob) and nephew Edward (Bonnie).
Frank faced life’s challenges with a quiet strength. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 72 years, Jean (2022), parents Helen & Stanley, son Stanley (1977) and nephew Robert.
In our memories and the stories we share, Frank will forever be remembered as the card player extraordinaire, the master fixer and a salt-of-the-earth family man. May he rest in peace, reunited with his loved ones who went before him.
Friends will be received at the Keith Ovington Funeral Home, 134 King Street, Burford on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the chapel on Saturday December 9, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment Pioneer Cemetery, Burford.
