With gratitude for a long life well-lived, we announce that on Tuesday December 5, 2023, Norma Claire Johnston at the age of 85 left us to be reunited with her beloved Carl (1992). She will be forever loved and missed by her daughters Mary ‘Laurie’ Fors (Stephen) and Elizabeth Stratton (Roger Black), cherished grandchildren Catherine Fors (Dylan Baker), Andrew Fors (Alicia Willis), Lucas & Jack Stratton. Norma is the daughter of the late Lester and Mary Arnold, sister of Elliot (Jean) Arnold and Elsie (Malcolm) Cleghorn. Fondly missed by Connor, Megan, and Mitchell Black.
As a teacher- librarian, Norma shared her love of reading and learning with her children and grandchildren. Her sense of adventure led her to visit 80 countries and everyone wanted her to be on their team for trivial pursuit. Games were her thing – cards, cribbage, Catan, Rummicube. She also enjoyed games involving slot machines and gaming tables. Her quick wit, sense of humor, and outgoing personality drew people to her. She gave freely of her time to friends as well as various charities and organizations over the years.
A special thank you to Dr. J. Uppal and Dr. D. Kim and their wonderful office staff. We will be forever grateful for the care provided by the entire staff of the Oaks Retirement Village, and in her final hours at St. Joseph’s Hospice.
Family and Friends are invited for visitation at the Haycock-Cavanagh Funeral Home, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg (519-627-3231), on Friday, December 8, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Her funeral will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 11am followed by burial at Riverview Cemetery. If you wish to make a donation in Norma’s memory, please consider the Canadian Cancer Society or St. Joseph’s Hospice Foundation.
