William Nutter Obituary
It is with broken hearts that the family of William “Bill” Nutter announce his passing on December 3, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on November 15, 1950, he was the son of the late H. Laurence and Nellie (Rankine).
Bill lived and breathed golf, belonging to several golf clubs over the years. In his youth, he lived in Moncton and golfed with the Moncton Golf Club. He eventually moved to the Riverside Golf Club, Hampton Golf Club, and then to the Midland Meadows Golf Club. Bill began his career at G.E. Barber and Co. up until its closure, then Trecartin Wholesale until his retirement. He enjoyed travelling with work or family and playing a round of golf when he could, in places like Arizona, Colorado, and Florida. When the family lived at Bradley Lake, Bill enjoyed taking in the views and going kayaking. Bill also liked a clean car, so much so he would even take friends’ cars home to clean it for them! That love of automobiles translated in his hobby of building model cars and trucks in his spare time, filling the house with hundreds of meticulously crafted models. His unique and fun spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Bill is survived by his wife of 49 years Juliana (Judy); daughter: Jenny (Philip) Gallant; grandchildren: Jayden and Landon Gallant; in-laws: Rowena (John) Doiron, Kenny (Rose) Breau, Eugene (Diane) Breau, Mark (Angela) Breau; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, Bill was predeceased by his daughter Jillian and brother Jack Nutter.
Bill’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to his family doctor Dr. Josh Tracey, Extramural, and Palliative Care at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their kindness and caring. Also, an immense gratitude to his buddies at the Midland Golf Club as well as owners Sherry and Glen for the special tournament they organised in his honour.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, from 2 – 4 PM and 6 – 8 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held for Bill in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10AM. Donations to the Lung Association, Canadian Cancer Society, or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by family.
