It is with great sadness that we announce the
passing of Dean William Scopie, 93, of
Coburg, NB on Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Sackville Memorial
Hospital.
Dean was born in River Hebert, NS, a son of the late
Michael and Isabel (Poplar) Scopie.
Dean was a hard and dedicated worker. He was an avid hunter and
fisherman and enjoyed a good meal. He loved music, in particular
fiddle music and watching sports, his favourite teams being the
Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs.
Looking back on the highlights of his life, Dean had
no regrets and felt he had accomplished most everything he set out to
do. He had
been in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1951-1956, following that he
worked in the woods, worked as a fisherman and as a foreman during
Fort Beausejour’s reconstruction and finally with Irving Oil up until
his retirement.
Dean will be dearly missed by his daughters, Sadie
Brine, Riverview, Sharon (Joe Leger) LeBlanc, Cap-Pele, Sylvia Scopie,
Port Elgin, and Susan Brooks, Calgary; 18 grandchildren, Tracy, Tanya,
Kevin, Jodie, Amanda, Jillian, Randy, Nicole, Dean, Chandra, Tina,
Chad, Michelle, Bonnie, Victor, Bernice, Dean and Douglas; many great
grandchildren and great great grandchildren; step children, Darren,
Wayne, and Tammy and their children; his siblings, June Porter,
Annmarie Gray, and David (Monica) Scopie, as well as several nieces
and nephews.
Besides his parents Dean was predeceased by his
wife, Helen (Lucci); his sons, Dean William, William Dean, and Michael
Frank; his daughter, Sandra Jean Earle; his grandson dean and his
great grandchildren Frankie and Elizabeth, as well as his common-law
partner of 31 years, Lorna Biddle.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of
Jones Funeral Homes, Port Elgin and
Sackville, NB (506) 364-1300. A time of visitation will be
held from their Port Elgin location, (3 W. Main Street), on Friday,
December 8, 2023 from 12 pm until the time of the funeral service at 2
pm, Rev. Carolyn Rushton presiding.
Donations in Dean’s memory may be made to the
Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s
choice.
