GALLANT, Dorothy (Richard)
Passed away peacefully at Macassa Lodge on Wednesday November 22, 2023 in her 96th year.
Born in Cape Egmont, PEI to the late Dolor and Mathilda (nee Arsenault) Richard.
Beloved wife of the late Albert E. Gallant. Predeceased by her brother Peter and sister Eunice. Survived by her son Al (Colleen), granddaughter Leah (Chris), grandson Cameron (Lindsay), great grandchildren Jacob, Lauren, Sophia, Gabriel and brother Eugene Richard of Kingston.
Dorothy was employed by Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board teaching French.
A parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she contributed many hours of her time with finances, liturgy, bazaars, assisting with funeral proceedings, setting up euchre games and tabs for wheelchairs.
Dorothy volunteered her time to the Colostomy Association, Heart & Stroke Foundation Committee, past president of Caledonia C.W.L. (St. Patrick’s Catholic Church) and member of the Teacher’s Federation.
Dorothy was an amazing knitter who made many afghans and baby outfits for family and friends.
She was blessed to have wonderful friends, Barb and Joe Poole, Barb Llewellyn, Ann Connell, Lynn and Len Faulkiner, Maureen Richardson, Eileen Brow and many more. Special thanks to the staff of Macassa Lodge for their excellent care and a beautiful Honour Guard.
Arrangements entrusted to P.X. Dermody Funeral Home, 905-388-4141. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, Ancaster.
