Taylor, Chipman “Chip” Ross – Age 84, Retired Corporal RCMP (COF), of Wittenburg.
Chip came into the world in the family home in Chaswood. To the chagrin of his big sister, Daisy, he was not a girl. He was a son of the late Earl and Bessie (Swinimer) Taylor.
Before joining the RCMP in 1959, Chip enjoyed being a member of the local Air Cadets, fishing and hunting. He was an avid woodsman and lover of all that nature had to offer.
During his career with the RCMP, he was stationed in British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
Chip left us peacefully with his family by his side on November 29, 2023, and was reunited with his beloved canine companion, Rowdy.
Chip is survived by the love of his life and best friend, his wife, Barbara (Bishop), originally from Trail, BC; January would have marked their 62nd wedding anniversary. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his remarkable children, Barry (Lorelei), Andy (Sarita), Heather (Tony), Jennifer (Richard); grandchildren, Erin, Cory, Adam, Emma, Connor, Matthew, Megan, William, Stuart; great-grandchildren, Claire, Grace, Hudson, Makenna, Bridget and Nolan. He is also survived by his sister, Daisy; brother, Byron (Bernice); sister-in-law, Janet; brother-in-law, Jim (Sharon) and sister-in-law, Donna as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Chip was predeceased by his brothers, Harry and Ken; and his sister, Goldie.
There are many amazing individuals the family would like to thank for their kind support and service over the last few years. A very special thank you to Dr. Karen Day and the staff at Musquodoboit Valley Family Practice as well as the supportive and superb staff at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Emergency Department in Truro and the paramedics who went above and beyond to make his final days peaceful and the family comfortable during this difficult time. We would also like to give special recognition to VON and the dedicated team who provided extra support and care for many years. Finally, we would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Glenn Patriquin of the Infectious Disease Department in Halifax.
Following Chip’s wishes, there will be no service or visitation. A family graveside burial will take place at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Chip to Hope for Wildlife or Colchester East Hants VON.
