Obituary of Barbara Menitta Hardy
Passed away peacefully at the Brockville General Hospital on Thursday November 30th, 2023. Born at New Carlisle, Quebec on Monday June 25th, 1923 to Jane Elizabeth Gallan and Amos Main. She was married in 1949 to Joseph Ralston Hardy who predeceased her in 1994. She had four children, Donald who predeceased her, Selma Noonan (David), Debora Smolders (Robert) and James Ralph Hardy. Fondly remembered by her 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Barbara was proud of her service to her country in World War II. She was stationed in Kitchener, Ontario from 1942 to 1944. While in Kitchener she met and spoke to British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and later on met his daughter Mary who was in the British Army and came over to Canada and stayed at the camp with them for a month.
Barbara was loved dearly by all her family and will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of meeting her. She had a strong belief in God and always had a heart of gold.
A Private Family Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel of the Barclay Funeral Home, 137 Pearl St., E., Brockville. In memory of Barbara donations to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 96 would be appreciated by the family. Messages of condolence may be sent online at www.barclayfuneralhome.com .
