Janette Coby van Ginkel passed away peacefully on January 21, 2023, after a short illness. She was 67 years old. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Cornelis (2002) and Sietske (2021), and is survived by her cherished sister, Cinthia (Cindy) van Ginkel, brother-in-law, Baird “Dream Man” Gruer, and many relatives in The Netherlands, Switzerland and South Africa.
During her final days, “Nettie” was visited by many loved ones who generously shared their stories of time spent with her and the positive impact that she had had on their lives. In the plethora of condolence notes received after her passing, Janette was described as strong, courageous, and passionate about life. Most of all, they spoke of Janette’s incredible sense of humour, well-timed comedic expressions, and infectious laugh.
An enormous “thank you” to the staff, volunteers, and friends with Community Living North Grenville, who made Janette’s 33 years as a resident and member of that organization rewarding and enriching. Kathy Botham, a great friend and residential supervisor at Janette’s home, was an incredible advocate in Janette’s life and as she passed away. Thank you also to the medical and care staff at Kemptville District Hospital for making her stay as comfortable as possible. We make special mention of Amanda, who wore her puppy print scrubs on Janette’s final day on earth to honour her much-loved therapy stuffy.
A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
