Sadly, our beautiful mother, Gladys Johnston, passed away at the West Parry Sound Hospital, on November 20, 2023. We were so fortunate to be together to celebrate Mom’s 95th birthday on October 28th. She was the loving wife of our late father, Frank Johnston, for 57 years. We take comfort that Mom is with Dad now. Our mom was loved and will be missed so very much by her four daughters and sons-in-law: Pat (Mike) Jarzembecki of Carling; Nancy (Allan) Beers of Parry Sound; Carol (Mark) Gavard of Morden, Manitoba; and Paula (Rick) Walker of Winnipeg, Manitoba. She was also the much loved Grandmother of Brian Jarzembecki, Laura (James) Jarzembecki, Cory Gavard, Adrienne (Drew) Gavard, Stephanie (Chris) Bolt, Lisa Walker, and Cheryl (Daniel) Walker. She was also the proud Great Grandmother (GiGi) of Nicholas and Elizabeth Bolt. Gladys will also be missed by her brother Ernie (Shirley) Hicks and her niece Joanne Mills, as well as other nieces, nephews and cousins. Gladys was predeceased by her sister Betty Mills. Our mom had many dear friends in Niagara Falls, Ontario, where she lived for 88 years before moving to Parry Sound in 2015. She easily made new friends at the Gardens of Parry Sound where she enjoyed playing cards and Rummicube with the ladies and interacting with the caring staff. We, her four daughters, want to sincerely thank the wonderful doctors and nurses in the ER, the Acute Care and the Palliative Care units at WPSH. Their compassion helped us greatly while Mom was in the hospital. Many thanks also to Dr. Davis, Mom’s family doctor for the past 8 years. Cremation arrangements entrusted to the Torrance Funeral Home (89 Bowes St. Parry Sound). A private family celebration of life will be held in the Spring of 2024 in Niagara Falls. In memory of Gladys, those who wish may make a donation to the War Amps or to the Palliative Care unit at West Parry Sound Hospital.
