Obituary of Gordon Anthony
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Warrant Officer Gordon (HOSS) Anthony at Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton NB on November 18, with his loving family by his side.
Gordon was born September 16, 1938, to Jean and Russell Anthony, Westmount, NS. In 1962, Gordon married the love of his life, Dawna (nee Carmichael). They would go on to have three children.
Gordon is survived by his daughter Laura, Dartmouth, NS. Neil (Colleen) Oromocto, NB and Frank (Elizabeth) Victoria BC. He also had several grandchildren whom he loved dearly; Kris, Jamie, Tera, Samantha, Rachael, Alex and Cameron. He is also survived by 8 great- grandchildren and many loved ones and friends.
Gordon joined the military in 1962 and worked his way up to Company Sergeant Major of the Tech Support Branch. This career would have he and his family living in many places throughout Canada and doing a tour in Germany in 1968. He served his country for 28 years before retiring in 1988, only to return one week later as a small engine mechanic as a Civil Servant.
Besides his children, Gordon is also survived by brother Sonny Anthony, Westmount, NS. Sisters Lorna (Dennis) O’Day, Worchester MA, Carol Ann (Jim) Manson, Cornwall, ON and Betty Morris, Prime Brook, NS.
Besides his parents and his wife, Dawna, Gordon was predeceased by his twin brother Beverley, brothers Lawrence and Weston, sister-in-law Geraldine and brother-in-law Stewart Morris. He was also predeceased by his mother and Father-in-law, Greta and Neil Carmichael of Whitney Pier, NS.
Gordon very happily lived for the past 10 years in Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. He made many friends there over the years and always enjoyed talking and interacting with the staff. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to the Staff at Pine Grove for the care given to Pops over the years. It has meant so much to us.
There will be no service for Gordon at his request. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to The Parkinson’s Canada Foundation or charity of choice.
