Wilson, Glenda (nee Krose) passed away peacefully at Saint-Vincent Bruyère Hospital on Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at the age of 80. Predeceased by her husband Doug, and brother Carl. Lovingly remembered by her sons Bruce (Jenn) and Scott (Ling), grandchildren Katie, Brad, Elizabeth, Ashley and Adele, sister Greta (Rob), her nieces and nephew, and several cousins, neighbours and friends.
Born on December 28, 1942 to the late Elsie and Paul Krose, Glenda grew up in Ladysmith, Quebec and spent her adult life in Ottawa, though she retained ties to the Ladysmith area through regular visits to the family cottage on Johnson Lake. In her younger years, Glenda was an avid and energetic outdoorswoman, who’s many hobbies included downhill and cross-country skiing, hiking and gardening. She also enjoyed more creative pursuits including painting, knitting, sewing and baking – family members could always count on finding a container of cookies or muffins somewhere in Glenda’s kitchen.
She remained active and independent throughout her life, continuing to maintain both her home in Ottawa and the cottage even after the passing of her husband Doug in 1995. She was generally a quiet person but she had a big heart, and cared deeply for her family. She will be fondly remembered for her generosity and her sense of humour, and her steady presence in all our lives.
Special thanks to the teams at the Ottawa Hospital and the Bruyère for their care and compassion.
A memorial reception will be held at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Nepean, Ontario, on Saturday, November 18 from 11am to 1pm. Internment to follow at Capital Memorial Gardens.
For those who wish, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
