Gwendolyn Alice Ford, nee Kelly, who passed away at Collingwood General & Marine on November 3, 2023, was born in Meaford, Ontario on July 2, 1940 to Arnold and Alice Kelly of Collingwood. She grew up in Collingwood and went to Collingwood Collegiate Senior Public School. In the late fifties she travelled to Toronto to pursue a Registered Nurse’s Assistant Certificate at Women’s College Hospital. She later worked at Owen Sound Hospital, Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie, and Peel Memorial Hospital in Brampton. She married Brian Smith of Collingwood in 1963 and had one daughter Kelly Susan. And after a divorce in the 1970’s she married Wayne Ford of Stayner and had one son John Wayne. In her late forties, she struggled with mental illness and moved back to Collingwood with the support of her family, residents on St Paul Street, All Saints Anglican Church Food Program, Dr, O’Halloran, Mental Health OutPatient Services at Collingwood General Marine Hospital. Predeceased by her parents and brothers Don and Doug Kelly. She was survived by her daughter and son, and her sisters, Pat Thomspon of Nottawa, Guyrene Hogg of Collingwood and Joyce Hogg of Meaford.
An onsite interment and service will be held at Westmount Cemetery, 8011 Poplar Side Rd in Collingwood at 11 am on Friday November 10th at 11 am. All are welcome.
