Juan Evangelista Chicas Ortiz passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday November 5, 2023, at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario. He was born December 27, 1939. He was a loving, faithful and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He lived to care for his family. He migrated to Canada in 1987 in search of a better future for his family.
He was survived by his wife, Maria and his seven children; Jose (Katya), Dionicia, Teodora, Sotera, Alexander (Isis), Antonia (Tony), Fredi and four grandchildren; Dalila, Nathan, Sofia and Evan.
He loved music, working with his hands, woodworking, and walking. He had a sweet tooth, green thumb and a great sense of humour.
He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and enjoyed attending meetings. Juan was baptized at the District Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Kitchener, Ontario on July 19, 2014.
A Memorial service will be held on Sunday November 12, 2023, at 5:00 pm at the Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall. 648 Limeridge Road East, Hamilton, Ontario.
