She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1948 to the small village of Morpeth on the shores of Lake Erie. It was here that Aly met the love of her life, Pieter. Pieter and Aly married in 1955 and were married 61 years.
Aly was an amazing mom to 4 children, Oma to 9 grand children and Omie to 6 great grandchildren. Aly is predeceased by her husband Pieter (2017), her parents Ed and Alice Holthof, older brother George Holthof (2023) and younger brother Richard Holthof (2021).

Grandchildren; Corey, Michelle, Megan (Simeon), Amy (Tyler), Nicholas (Katherine), Alexander, Emily, Madeline and Kolton. Great-grandchildren; Sophie, Lily, Jack, Lauren, Haley and Isaac, as well as many loved nieces, nephews and their families. She was a member of First Christian Reformed Church in Chatham. She was a true friend to many.
Special thank you to Jean Attewell, Jean Nordham, Jessie Timmerman and friends at RVG Table #5. Aly leaves behind a fantastic legacy of love, faith, and the message to look for God in nature all around you. Special thanks to her home nurse Cindy, the many friends at Elm Street, and the compassionate staff at Riverview Gardens for their heartfelt care.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 8:00pm. A Funeral Service will be held at First Christian Reformed Church, 25 Tweedsmuir Ave East, Chatham at 10:00am on Tuesday, November 7, 2023. Interment to follow at Pardoville-Union Cemetery.
Mom loved flowers, those who knew her knew that she always had a bouquet on her table somewhere. She often said “Don’t buy me flowers when I’m gone, give them to me when I’m here.” In lieu of flowers to the funeral home, please consider blessing someone’s day with a bouquet in her honour or make a donation to World Renew or the Nancy Rebecca Missionary Society (payable to First Baptist Church).
