Françoise Surette, 40, of Moncton, passed away on
Wednesday November 1, 2023 at the Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont UHC following
a lengthy illness. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of Louie and
Denise (Cormier) Surette of Calgary, AB, formerly of
Moncton.
Françoise had an all-embracing sense of curiosity
and was interested in subjects that were as eclectic as they were
topical. A graduate of Concordia University’s BFA program,
she was passionate about art, music, and history, and was a gifted
conversationalist with anyone she crossed paths with. Having won the
prize for “most sociable person” in kindergarten,
Françoise fittingly surrounded herself with many friends
throughout her life. She loved being in nature and discovering
lesser-known places. Françoise was a person of raw
authenticity who had a wicked sense of humour and a deep ability to
listen.
Besides her parents, she is survived by one sister, Madeleine
Fidler (Logan) of Calgary, AB; one nephew, Isaac; her paternal
grandmother, Rita Surette of Dieppe; as well as her aunts, uncles,
cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Azor and
Dolores (Nowlan) Cormier, and her paternal grandfather, Raymond
Surette.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and
Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (506-858-1900) on Friday
November 10 from 2 to 4pm and from 7 to 9 pm. There will be no funeral
service. In memory of Françoise, a contribution to the CHU
Dumont Foundation (oncology) would be appreciated.
