In Celebration of
Linda Page (nee Burden)
April 2, 1946 –
October 30, 2023
Fishing heaven gained the most wonderful Husband, Dad, Brother, Uncle, and Grandpa on October 29, 2023. Tony Page was born on January 17th, 1944, in Ramsgate, England during WWII. His parents, Grace (Marsh) Page and Lloyd Page settled in Hamilton raising their family including Tony’s late brother Paul Page (Sue Page – children Todd, Mandy, Leigh) and his late sister Cheryl (Page) Weaver (Floyd – children Cliff, Warren, Darryl).
Devastatingly, Catherine Linda Jane (Burden) Page passed unexpectedly on October 30, 2023, shortly after returning from planning her husband’s funeral. Heaven gained the most wonderful Wife, Mom, Sister, Aunt, and Grandma. Linda was born in Hamilton on April 2nd, 1946. Her parents, Frances ‘Franny’ (Read) Burden and Francis ‘Frank’ Burden met in Couburg, Ontario during the Depression and later settled in Hamilton to raise their children including her late brothers Jimmy Burden and Billy Burden, her brother Paul Burden (son Kyle Burden, wife Sandi Burden – daughter Andrea) sister Nancy Burden (daughter Samantha (Bates) Kreidl, husband Josh – children Resiling and Carter).
Tony married the love of his life Linda Burden on August 26, 1967. Throughout their 56 years together they raised four children and were blessed by seven grandchildren, whom they adored. Jason Page (Skylar and Riley), Jamie Page (wife Catherine (Faille) Page – Chloe and Eden), Corey Page (wife Sara (DiCioccio) Page – Carson and Nolan), and Jody Page (Nathan). Aunt and Uncle to many nieces and nephews including Samantha (Bates) Kreidl who was always viewed as a beloved member of the Page family by ‘Mommy Inda’ and Uncle Tony.
Tony worked as an Electrical Foreman at Stelco for 39 Years, gaining lifelong friendships with ‘the guys’ whom he still met up with to ‘shoot the breeze’. Linda was the best stay at home mom and babysitter. She later worked in retail for many years. Tony and Linda’s favourite job of all was caring for their grandchildren throughout their retirement. They loved spending time with all the grandkids as well as Riesling and Carter.
Tony was an amazing athlete in his days at Hill Park Secondary School, where he met Linda, playing every sport, with his passions being football and hockey. He shared this passion with the countless athletes he coached in football, hockey, and baseball.
Of all the things Tony loved to do, he loved fishing the most. His love of fishing began at a young age, and he spent countless trips up north sharing his favourite pastime with his sons and grandchildren. He just loved the simplicity of the wilderness trolling in a boat, especially with his best fishing buddy and lifelong friend Paul Repta.
Linda was an incredible mother with a variety of interests, hobbies, and talents. She was witty and sarcastic and such a caring confidant. She made the greatest cabbage salad that was a hit at family gatherings. Linda loved to make all the kids the funniest stockings at Christmas filled with love and laughter. Linda loved sewing and she often made the most incredible Halloween costumes and clothes for her kids when they were young. She loved helping with school projects, baking, and decorating the house for all the holidays. She loved cats, dogs, and almost any animal she met. She had a knack for raising wild bunnies, crows, and countless baby birds. She just loved selflessly caring for others. As a teenager through to adulthood, Linda tirelessly cared for her mother as she battled MS and she raised her young sister Nancy, becoming her mother figure.
Above all else, Tony was a family man. He loved his wife, his kids, his grandkids, and his niece Samantha and her kids. He never missed a game, practice, competition, recital, graduation, or school event. He truly was the greatest Dad, Uncle, and most of all…GRAMPS.
Linda was always there whenever you needed her to chat or sort through a stressful situation. She built special relationships with each of her children and grandchildren, always their biggest supporter. She truly was the greatest Mom, Aunt, Sister, and most of all…Grandma.
Tony and Linda will be deeply missed by their children, Sam, grandkids, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday November 5 from 11:30 a.m. till 1 p.m. followed by Funeral Service at 1 p.m. at Bayview Gardens Funeral Home, 947 Rymal Road East, Hamilton. Reception to follow at Sasso Pizza Market & Bar 1595 Upper James Street.
