Obituary
Susan Virginia Parsons (Stanley)
1966 ~ 2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Susan, beloved wife, mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, auntie and loving friend, at the Wetaskiwin Hospital and Care Centre on October 25, 2023, at the age of 57 years.
Susan was born on October 16, 1966, in Gander, Newfoundland to Chesley and Judith Stanley. She was so full of life. Susan attended school in Clarenville, Newfoundland, where her love of travel took over. Throughout her life, she was a hard worker, taking on many jobs. As an adult, Susan returned to school, taking Commercial Cooking at Burin College.
Susan met John Parsons, and they fell in love and were married on August 16, 1997. In 1999, they welcomed a bouncing baby boy, Matthew, who was later nicknamed the “Y2K Baby”, as wherever he went, everything shut down so he could be the center of attention.
In 2002, the family relocated to Alberta, juggling work and family in Fort McMurray, followed by a move to small town Wetaskiwin in 2008, where the slow steady pace of life changed, and they got used to small town living. Susan and John met many friends who became their family. Susan’s love of cooking and baking brought friends together for many backyard parties, “The more the merrier!” she always said. She was always up for adventure and roadtrips, and she loved Christmas and decorating for every holiday. Most of all, Susan loved her family and her friends, and she touched so many lives.
Susan will be lovingly remembered, and will live on through her devoted husband of 26 years, John; her loving son, Matthew; sister, Heather; brother, Christopher; father-in-law, Rex; sisters-in-law, Anne (Glynne), Lynda (Bob), Laurie (Craig), Christine, Renee; brother-in-law, Scott; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Susan was predeceased by her parents, Chesley and Judith Stanley; mother-in-law, Rexine Parsons and brother-in-law, Sam Blagdon.
Susan will always be remembered in our hearts for her heart of gold, her love of cooking and baking, and most of all her love of her family. She was a friend to all and will surely be missed by countless family, friends and extended family members.
A Celebration of Life to honour Susan will be held on Thursday, November 2, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin.
