Elaine Krock (Yorga) was born on a homestead located at 32-5-2-3 Saskatchewan near Wood Mountain on September 15,1936 to Constantine Yorga and Katie Topala. Elaine gracefully received her wings on October 10,2023.
Elaine grew up in the Wood Mountain area until she moved to Moose Jaw and started her working career. She began in retail and then started working at the Ambassador Café where she remained for over 5 years and where she met her lifelong friends Mel and Effie Stern. Then, off she went to Regina to work. This is where she met Floyd, a man who charmed her off her feet, eventually becoming her lifelong love. His opening line to Elaine was “I bet you 25 cents that I can kiss you without touching your lips”. He kissed her, laughed and gave her the 25 cents and it was love at first kiss you could say.
Elaine and Floyd married in July 1962. Elaine soon discovered that Floyd had itchy feet and a gypsy soul. Floyd worked in insurance and car sales but had to follow his true calling for his love of horses and cattle and the open range. She faithfully followed him on his journey through the western provinces. They finally ended up in Cayley, Alberta in 1989, where Elaine became a Manager for Aramark at the Cargill Plant for 15 years until she retired.
Elaine loved to cook, bake and was well known for her cinnamon buns and homemade bread. She always had something in the freezer that could be pulled out when someone popped over.
Above all else, Elaine loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by family
.
Elaine was predeceased by her parents Constantine (1983) and Katie (1969), her husband Floyd (2004), and Son Devin (1981).
Survived by her brother’s Conn Yorga (Lillian), Nick Yorga and children Merna Lynn Durant (Doug), Shannon Lee Krock (Rose), grandchildren Adam Yorga, Justin Shaw (Christine), Leah Shaw, Kylah Lyager (Terry), Alexandrea Krock (Joe) and great grandchildren Aristotle Bassa and Liam Lyager. As well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
As per Elaine’s request a service will not be held. She was practical that way and would say, “don’t waste your money.” She would like everyone to have a cup of coffee, their favorite sweet treat, sit to have a chat with whoever you want and remember her in your own way and time. Which she is probably doing right now reunited with her beloved husband Floyd and friends Sophie, Effie, and her much loved dog, Tiggie.
Elaine is interred beside Floyd at the Highwood Cemetery in High River, Alberta.
