On October 21, 2023, Lorne passed away suddenly, surrounded by his family, at Victoria Hospital in London. Born July 6, 1945 in Port Elgin, Lorne Russell Faust of West Arran was in his 79th year.
Predeceased by his wife and best friend Joan (Chebott). And former spouse Evelyn (Hanna).
Dearly loved father of Jeff Faust (Jill) of Cookstown and Rachel Faust of Chatham. Step-father of Barb Phillips (Mike) of Port Elgin, Stacey Annis (Paul) of Cochrane, Alberta and Scott Uhrig (Farren) of Cargill. Proud “Farm Grandpa” of Jackson and Jessica Faust, Vanessa and Brady Phillips, William and Olivia Annis and Rorey and Bennett Uhrig.
Dear brother of Lois and Bob Cobean of Port Elgin and Keith and Willa Faust of West Arran.
A lifelong resident of West Arran, Lorne was born a farmer, living on the family farm for nearly his entire life. In the early 80s Lorne became a milk grader and truck driver. He enjoyed working with the dairy farmers across Bruce and Grey Counties.
Lorne always liked to work with beef cattle, raising and showing them as a teenager and then sharing that love of cattle with Jeff and Rachel. Over the years Lorne and the kids made many connections and friends in the purebred Simmental industry.
Lorne married his best friend and soulmate Joan in 1997. They were meant to be together and brought together a blended family. Lorne was happiest by Joan’s side – that’s where he was supposed to be. They enjoyed social time with their friends, Owen Sound Attack games and visiting Mexico to get a break from the Bruce County winters.
Lorne loved social events and fellowship. Active his entire life, he had taken up curling again in recent years at the Port Elgin Curling Club. Always a good card player, he enjoyed playing cribbage and euchre at the Tara Legion and West Arran Community Centre.
At Lorne’s wishes, cremation has taken place. His final resting place will be back with Joan at Southampton Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life will take place Friday, October 27 at the Lakeshore Racquetball Club in Port Elgin from 2:30 to 5pm. Words of Remembrance will be shared at 3pm.
