It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Leona Beatrice Estella Wicklund. Leona was born March 31, 1955 in Mission, B.C., and passed away on October 10, 2023 in Red Deer, Alberta at the age of 68 years. She is survived by her four sons, Wade (Kathy), Aaron (Amanda), Kyle (Jolene), Mark (Nicole); her step-son, Darcy; as well as 14 grandchildren, Naudia, Kobe, Alexa, Marcus, Spencer, Angelle, Ryanne, Keeda, Kaelyn, Autumn, Mark Jr., Aurora, Dawna, Wyatt and three great-grandchildren, Ryder, Rudy and Waylon. Leona is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Raymond Wicklund and Garry Guinup; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Beatrice Oswald and Floyd Fitzgerald; her step-father, Matt Oswald; her husband of 40 years, Wilfred Wicklund; sister, Anne Guinup; brothers-in-law, Alvin, William, Harry and Leonard Wicklund, Gordon Arndt and Walter Olson; her sisters-in-law, Irene Olson and Florence Arndt. Leona is also predeceased by her granddaughter, Alysha Makris.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin. Interment of cremated remains to follow at Crooked Lake Cemetery, Gwynne. Service will be live streamed. Donations in memory of Leona can be made to the charity of donor’s choice.
