Obituary
Lorraine Helen Still (nee Grove)
May 27, 1935 – January 20, 2023
Peacefully in her sleep, the matriarch of our family, Lorraine Still went home to be with the Lord.
Lorraine is predeceased by her husband Denis and sons, Craig and Eddie. Left to cherish her memory is her son Bob (Leslie) and daughter Karen (Rick), her brothers and sisters, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Family meant the world to mom. Being the eldest of 12 children, her caring, loving and nurturing demeanour was established early in life as she helped to raise her siblings. In 1955, mom and dad where married and they had a loving marriage that produced a happy home with four children. Our home always had open doors for all who visited.
Mom was a very competent nurse and showed love and compassion to her patients. After retirement Mom and dad enjoyed travelling and spending time with their grandchildren.
Mom devoted her life to God, she was active in the St. Clements Anglican Church . Mom believed in the power of prayer and would often be on the phone initiating the “prayer train” and would take the time to pray for whomever was in need. The grandchildren learned from grandma to be humble and compassionate and were never surprised to see new faces around the table at Sunday dinners.
Mom was active in the community and was influential in the development of the Youth for Christ. The love she had for all the children of the community was strong and she maintained many of those bonds throughout her life. Mom donated her time with various charity organizations and in 1997 was presented with the Selkirk ‘Citizen of the Year’ award.
Thank you to all of the staff at the Tudor House for providing such compassionate and loving care to mom over the last couple of years.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Selkirk, Manitoba.
