Robert Docking
1942 ~ 2023
It is with profound sadness that the family of Robert Thomas Docking announces his passing on September 21, 2023 at the age of 81 years old.
Dad was born June 17, 1942 in Saskatoon, SK. He completed his education in Saskatoon. The technical school he attended taught Dad auto mechanics and body work. He loved to fix things that needed to be fixed.
Dad’s passion was going to the lake every summer with his family. He loved boating, fishing, and later relaxing by the fire. He valued his friends and family. The grandkids were Dad’s purpose in life. They brought Dad love and happiness. Dad was our hero. He would take the time to teach us kids whatever we needed to learn at the time. Dad was always there when we needed him. He loved going to our school functions, Christmas Concerts, teacher interviews, volleyball games, and track and field. He was always our cheer leader. He was the best Dad. He will be missed.
Dad was loved by all who knew him. He made friends quickly with his kind heart and sense of humour. Dad always helped out others.
Thank you to the two families who made a difference in Dad’s life. Breann and family and Natalie and family. You always made sure Dad was okay and if he needed something done you did it for him. Dad loved all of you! Your kindness and love for our dad is much appreciated. Dad also misses his friends Bonnie and Paul. Thank you for being kind to Dad.
Dad was a jack of all trades. He enrolled in Army Cadets then later joined the Army! He was an auto mechanic in Flin Flon, MB for a short time. He then went on and worked for Ray’s Ambulance as a paramedic. Dad worked for Speedy Glass and Canadian Tire Auto Service.
Robert was predeceased by his wife Victoria Docking, his son-in-law David Maximiuk, his parents Elsie and Edwin Docking, and his sister Teri Rudolph.
Robert leaves to mourn his passing his 3 children: daughter Nancy Docking (Eric) of Prince Albert, daughter Marion Maximiuk of Prince Albert, and son Edwin Docking of Prince Albert; his grandkids, Kyle and Jenn Carnahan, Karly Carnahan (Farly), and Austin Maximiuk; his great grandkids Kylan and Karter; his sisters Nanette Moffat and Marcia Bergman; numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and other family members.
A golden heart stopped beating.
Hard working hands at rest.
It broke our hearts to see you go,
God only takes the best.
They say that memories are golden
Well maybe that is true.
But we never wanted memories
We only wanted you.
Your life was love and labour
Your love for our family true
You did your best for all of us
We will always always remember you Dad!
We sat beside your bedside
Our hearts were crushed and sore
We did our duty till the end
Till we could do no more.
In tears we watched you sinking
We watched you fade away
And though our hearts were breaking,
We knew you couldn’t stay.
Only God knows how much we miss and love you Dad. Dance high with Mom in Heaven.
We are crushed that you both are gone. Loneliness is overwhelming and lots of tears we shed.
We take comfort that you’re with Mom now. We love you both forever and always.
