Obituary
On Saturday, September 16th, 2023, Tanner John Soeting left the physical world in a way he would love to be remembered – living life to the fullest and having fun with his good friends. Tanner blessed Albert and Jane Soeting on June 11th 1984, coming into the world a creative, happy, fun-loving boy, who remarkably never lost his childhood curiosity along his thirty-nine beautiful years. Tanner coloured outside the lines, never followed the popular opinion and was authentic to his core. Showing up at prom in his 1972 powder blue bell bottom suit complete with shag hair-do, he made everyone smile. Tanner met everyone with his heart on his sleeve, his endearing smile, and with his good nature. He had countless friends, melted many hearts, and made sure to make each relationship lasting and special. He was all things good – kind, caring, thoughtful, loyal, optimistic, generous, gracious, and even a bit mischievous.
Tanner had many big loves in life: art, music, reading, and the great outdoors. He was an old soul at heart and treasured his vinyl records. He was up for anything, and was a ‘yes man’ in the best way. He loved to adventure and travel, and in true Tanner fashion, made friends everywhere he went.
He had a long, loyal career in advertising where his creative mind flourished. He was passionate about his work and also genuinely loved the people he worked with, considering many of them family.
He is survived by his parents, his brothers Devin (Kaleigh Rose) and Troy (Sarah), sister Kailey Anne (Chris), and his grandmother Jean Soeting. He is predeceased by his grandparents Jack and Edera Rattenbury and Ralph Soeting. He was not only the very best uncle to Isla, Hollynd, and Trenton, but also the many children of his dear friends. His thoughtful goofy gifts and one on one time with his nieces and nephews will be fondly cherished. Tanner left behind a large loving family including many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We are forever grateful Tanner returned to home base a few years ago and made more memories with family and friends to cherish deeply.
Private Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N, Waterdown on Friday September 29, 2023 from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 9 p.m. A Celebration of Tanner’s Life will be held at the HAMILTON FILM STUDIO (BUILDING 2), 400 Wellington St. N., Hamilton on Saturday September 30, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hamilton Music Collective: hamiltonmusiccollective.ca
His mark on this world is the love he tattooed on all of our hearts. Tanner will forever be remembered and missed.
