Herbert Blaydes Moy (Bud) Rider, 96, of Brockville, Ontario, passed away on September 11th, 2023, at St. Lawrence Lodge Long Term Care Residence.
He was born on May 20, 1927, to Thomas Herbert Rider and Ambrosine Cynthia Rider (née Moy), in Sherbrooke, Qu֖ébec. After their mother’s death, he and his twin Elizabeth were cared for in Outrement, Québec, by their mother’s sister and her husband, Marion and John R. Osgoode.
Blaydes married Agnes Edith Bertram on April 27, 1968.
He worked in retail sales, at Morgan’s and Hudson’s Bay Company, and retired from Harper & Collins Books of Canada as Eastern Canada Sales Manager, moving from Dorval to Brockville for retirement. He was a keen reader, boater, and motorist, loving nothing more than cruising the river or the countryside with his beloved Agnes.
Blaydes is survived by his adored spouse of 55 years; his sister-in-law Emily (Millie) Bertram, niece Jane Hunt (Kevin), nephew John Bertram (Wendy), and great-nephew William Bertram in Jersey, Channel Islands; and cousin Diane Sheppard (Douglas).
He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt and uncle, sister, brother-in-laws John Bertram (Margaret) and Leonard Bertram.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Irvine Funeral Home and Chapel., 4 James St. E., Brockville, Ontario. As Bud wished, there will be no visitation or funeral. Inurnment of cremated remains will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Waterville, Québec, at a future date.
