Obituary
Doreen M. Nelson, 91, of York Care Centre, Fredericton, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. Born in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Eva (Hines) Turner.
Doreen worked at Colpitts Men’s Wear and retired from Eastern Bakeries, Payroll Dept. She was a member of West Lane Baptist Church and the W.M.S., she served her church in many capacities over the years. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Karing Kitchen and The Friends of the Moncton Hospital. She enjoyed playing cards and time spent at the family cottage.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Tom Nelson (Joyce); her grandchildren, Alexander (Jessica), Jennifer Powell (Colin), Eric (Kailey Cummings), Phoebe Rees (Elis) and Kit; great grandson, Greyson Nelson; daughter in law, Pippa; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Laurence Nelson; son, Larry Nelson; brother, Austin Turner; and sisters, Joan Currie, Marilyn Fenwick and Betty Gillard.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (506-858-1995) on Monday, September 25, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am followed immediately by a Service to Celebrate and Honour Doreen’s life at 11:00 am from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel. Reception will follow in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment will be held in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
