It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Giovanni (John/Gianni) Scarchilli at the age of 73. He passed away on September 6, 2023.
He was born to parents Giuseppe and Lola on March 31, 1950, in Colleferro, Italy.
He is survived by his wife Anna of 47 years, his three children Stephanie (spouse Steve), Jessica (spouse Paul), Alexander (spouse Caitlin), his seven grandchildren, his brother Marcello and his father-in-law Otto.
Giovanni was known for his love and passion of cooking, flying, teaching and welcoming all into his home with open arms. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, pilot, chef, restaurateur, teacher and so much more. His love for food and wine was infectious, sparking joy in the hearts of all who shared his table. As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived, the loving family he created and the enduring love he leaves behind.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday September 21, 2023 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and 6:00pm to 9:00pm at Ward Funeral Home, 52 Main Street South, Brampton, Ontario.
A funeral mass will be held at St.Patrick’s Catholic Church, Wildfield on Friday September 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. Entombment to follow at Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy be done by way of donation to the Giovanni Scarchilli Chef’s Bursary Fund. This bursary will assist aspiring young chefs follow their culinary dreams
