Passed away suddenly and peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the age of 86. Loving wife for 54 years to the late Monty Heald (2015), devoted mother of Sue (Tom), Tim (Vikki), and Simon (Claire) and loving grandmother of Jeff, Chris, Renae, Sarah, Matthew, Ryan, and Sophie. She will be sadly missed by her family, brother Roland, many relatives and friends.
Una was born in Derbyshire, England on December 21st, 1936. She grew up on the family farm and went on to have a successful career in nursing at the Derby Children’s Hospital. After marrying Monty and 3 children later, the family emigrated to Canada in 1969 and settled in the Burlington area. Una loved spending her time with family and friends.
She was at her happiest having all her family together at Christmas and for summer holidays in the Muskokas. She especially enjoyed following sports from the early morning F1 races, to the late-night Leaf games, and endless tennis matches. She loved her weekly coffee dates with Pauline, dinners and BBQs with family, and figuring out puzzles or crosswords.
Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 12-1pm at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL HOME, 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown. In keeping with Una’s wishes a private family service will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
