It is with broken hearts that the family of Gary Paul Cormier, beloved husband of Louise Bedard, announces his passing on September 2, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Saint John on December 15, 1961, he was the son of the late Joseph and Frances (Gionet) Cormier. Besides his wife Louise of 20 years, Gary will be deeply missed by his son: Eric Nadeau (Rebecca Mallet); daughter: Melanie Minchom (Jack Minchom); sisters: Doris O’Neill, Gloria McAdam (Donald Snodgrass) and Andrea Baxter (Kevin Baxter). He was predeceased by his brother Raymond Cormier.
To know Gary was to love him – spreading joy and genuineness wherever he went. As a neighbor and friend, he would drop everything to assist anyone in need, showing a selflessness that endeared him to all. Gary formed deep connections with countless individuals in the community. To him, friends were like family.
Gary truly lived life to the fullest and displayed passion in everything he did. His love of building and repairing motorcycles was sparked from a young age when he bought his first bike. He went on to become an automotive technician for 30+ years, and an avid motorcyclist for life. He found immense joy in racing, pushing the limits, and savoring the thrill of every ride. He also had a love for the outdoors that was evident in his fondness for fishing, and he took great pleasure in sharing his passion and skills with others. Gary also gave to his community, co-founding the first football team in Hampton for youths. His commitment to nurturing young talent and instilling a love for the sport as a coach was something he took great joy in.
Above all else, the true essence of Gary’s life lay in his strong love for his family. He was a devoted husband and an amazing father. His family was the center of his universe, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Gary had a remarkable gift for finding humor in everyday life, and his quick wit and infectious laughter brightened even the darkest of days. He had an uncanny ability to see the silver lining in every situation, spreading positivity wherever he went. His spirit will forever soar like a motorcycle on the open road.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Rd., Saint John, NB (646-2424) the family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 6, 2023, from 2 PM – 4 PM and 6 PM – 8 PM. A Celebration of Gary’s life will be held in the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 2 PM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in Gary’s memory can be made to the Kennebecasis Valley Extra Mural Program for equipment.
