Obituary
With great sadness, the family of the late Floyd Dergousoff, beloved husband of Gloria Dergousoff of Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, announce his passing at St. Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
Floyd was born on December 20, 1950, to Fred and Anne (nee Rieben) Dergousoff at Canora, Saskatchewan. He was raised in the Canora District, completed his education, and went on to become a teacher. He was united in marriage to Gloria Lukinuk of Canora and together they were blessed with two sons, Klarke and Brock.
Floyd began his teaching career in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan. In 1980, he accepted the offered position to be the principal in Hafford, Saskatchewan, where he continued to work for the next 14 years. He then transferred to Quill Lake, Saskatchewan in 1994, and continued there as principal before retiring after 36 years.
Aside from his professional role and work in education, Floyd also took interest in gardening, Yankees baseball and Canadiens hockey, but most of all, he enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and their activities.
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Floyd was predeceased by his father, Fred Dergousoff; his father-in-law, Bill Lukinuk and mother-in-law, Doris Lukinuk; and his brother-in-law, Ron Lukinuk.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria; his sons, Klarke (Taylor) and Brock (Jennifer); his mother, Anne; his brother, Brent (Cathy); and his treasured grandchildren: Alex, Hillary, Maren, and Morgan; as well as his extended family and friends.
In Floyd’s honour, a Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, August 31, 2023, from the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, with Walter Ostoforoff of the Canora Doukhobor Society officiating. Interment will follow in the Canora Cemetery. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan or to the S.P.C.A. Saskatchewan, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Floyd Dergousoff.
