Marilyn (Lyn) Danby (nee Tedford) was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend who left this world unexpectedly on Thursday August 24th at the age of 83 just two days before her beloved only sister and best friend Lorraine also passed.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on May 8th, 1940, Lyn immigrated to Toronto with her family at 14 where she eventually met Derwyn, the love of her life, marrying in 1962 to begin their lifelong adventure together.
Along the way, they had two children, Mark (Stacy) and Christopher (Susan) and their wonderful grandchildren Samuel, Ella and Oliver whom all were fortunate enough to experience Lyn’s warmth, kindness, intelligence, generosity and most importantly her unwavering love.
Despite being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at a relatively young age, and in spite of her battles with cancer, Lyn was a warrior who refused to let these debilitating illnesses defeat her. Bravely living a full life while never complaining or feeling sorry for herself. Approaching each day with dignity and positivity, always with a concern for others over herself despite the difficult hand she was dealt. She was one of a kind who will be sorely missed.
Family and friends will be received for visitation at Fawcett Funeral Home – Collingwood Chapel on Monday September 11, 2023 from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in Lyn’s memory may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
