Peacefully, surrounded by his family on August 20th, 2023, at Macassa Lodge, Quinto passed away in his 100th year. Beloved husband for 70 years of Eva Trevisani. Loving father of David (the late Patricia), Catherine Massey (Jeff), Dino (Barrett) and Doris (Greg Ausman). Dear Nonno of Ashley (Mal), Cassandra (Ryan), Liam, Brent (Natasha), Austin (Danielle), Nicole (Grant), Paige, Dean and Sierra and great grandfather to Beckham. Survived by his sister-in-law Anna (Bruno Zanon) and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Italy and Canada. Quinto will be remembered for his strength, commitment and love for his family. His passions were his garden and trees with farming in his blood. Quinto was born in April 1924 and at 18 fought in World War II, he left for France after the war and worked in the coal mines in France. After saving enough money he left for Canada in 1952, where he sent for his young love, Eva, to leave her family in Italy to join him to start a family. He worked at Stelco for over 40 years on the “track gang” working days and nights to support his family. There was no storm or sickness that would stop him from working including double shifts. He was always industrious with his many rental properties and land purchases, all in support of his family. He gave generously to his children but always reinforced the importance of education and hard work. His strength was unmatched including 4 bouts with Covid. Nothing scared him and he left this world on his terms. He decided once again he wanted to be with his loving wife Eva in Heaven. Through happiness or hardship, he would always tell his children to stay strong and fight through adversity. Special thanks to the staff at Macassa Lodge for their care and compassion shown to our father during his stay. Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 796 Upper Gage Ave. (between Mohawk & Fennel), on Thursday, September, 7th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. with vigil prayers at 8:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret Mary Parish, 20 Idlewood Ave., on Friday, September 8th at 11am. Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum.
