It is with deep sorrow we announce the tragic passing of James Alexander Campbell on August 19, 2023, at age 59 in Judique, NS. Born in Edmonton, AB, he was predeceased by his Father, Jack Campbell and his brother-in-law, James Dwayne MacDonnell.
James will be greatly missed by his loving wife, Wanda (MacDonnell) Campbell; sons, Reid and Michael Campbell; daughters, Janet Lee Ryan (Mark) and Alexa Campbell (Patrick); grandchildren, Jaxon and Peyton Ryan. James is also survived by his mother, Mary (MacLellan) Campbell; mother-in-law, Winnie MacDonnell; brother, John Campbell (Nicole); sister, Rosanna Campbell (Ross); sister-in-law, Donnette (MacDonnell) Ehler (Paul) and brother-in-law, Graham MacDonnell (Nick); nieces, Jillian, Brea, Keira, Alyssa, Ireland, Abigail, Charlotte, and Sophie; nephews, Ryan, Dylan, Alexander, AJ, Aiden, Jamie, Nathan and Barrett.
James was a devoted husband and a true family man who cared deeply about those around him and was dedicated to his faith in religion. He was an intelligent man, full of insight and knowledge. He will be remembered for his quick wit and keen sense of humour. Although quiet and reserved, James had the innate ability to get his point across with one sentence. He loved being with his children and the outdoors. He also had a love of Sci-Fi and Harry Potter.
James graduated from SAERC in 1982 and went on to earn his diploma in Engineering from St. Francis Xavier before starting his career he worked for several years with his Father at Jack Campbell Electric. James was a red seal Electrician, which afforded him the ability to travel abroad. Early on in his career, he worked in Brazil and later in St. Eustatius in the Caribbean where he settled many years with his family and then later decided to return home to Cape Breton where they settled in Judique, NS. He was a member of the IBEW Local 1852 and worked at the Paper Mill in Port Hawkesbury. He was respected by his co-workers because of his patience, hard work, dedication and determination.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 pm on Thursday, August 24, 2023, Dennis Haverstock Funeral Homes, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with a reception to be held in the Port Hawkesbury Fire Hall, 309 Hiram St, Port Hawkesbury, NS B9A 2R4 and burial to follow.
Memorial donations may be made in memory of James to the Canadian Cancer Society or Heart and Strpke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
