Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Enid Lois Mroske, late of Regina SK on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the age of 96 years. She is survived by: her daughter Ruth Little of Brandon and her son Lysle (Lisa) Mroske of Saskatoon; grandchildren Regan Mroske, Jessica Mroske and Michael Mroske; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She is predeceased by parents Warren and Eleanor (MacFarland) Fuller; Brothers Weldon (Rheta) Fuller and Herbert Fuller; Sisters Gertrude Fuller and Eunice (James) Connor; Nieces Colleen Duggan and Rhonda Connor.
Enid was born on May 29, 1927 and raised in the close knit community of West Saint John, New Brunswick. Following graduation from high school, Enid held a job as a secretary in the X-Ray department of the Saint John General Hospital where her kindness and compassion were recognized and she was encouraged to pursuit a career in Nursing. She obtained a Diploma in Nursing and began her career as a Registered Nurse in Saint John before heading west to a new job in Winnipeg, Manitoba. While settling into her new community, Enid met a young farmer from Saskatchewan, Vernice Mroske, who was in Winnipeg taking a welding course. Vernice and Enid soon married and settled into life on the Mroske family farm near Yorkton (Hamton), Saskatchewan. Enid was a hard worker and quickly put the experience she had gained from summers helping out on her uncles’ farm in New Brunswick toward helping Vernice run the family farm and growing their family. They were, in every way imaginable, a team. Enid loved everything about farm life and took great pride in taking care of her home, her husband and her children, Ruth and Lysle.
Enid was active and volunteered extensively in many organizations in Yorkton, contributing to the community. She and Vern were members of the congregation of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and heavily involved in the Yorkton Horseshoe Club. Enid remained on the family farm for several years following the death of her husband, eventually relocating to Yorkton and then to Pilot Butte to be closer to her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. Enid made friends easily as she had a kind easygoing way about her that made people want to spend time with her. In her later years, she enjoyed her weekly card games at the Golden Sunset Seniors Club in Pilot Butte. At the time of her passing, Enid resided at Wascana Rehabilitation Center in Regina where she was cared for and became part of the WRC 3-5 family. Even while battling illness, Enid was always happy to see her family or have a visit with a family pet. Her smile will be greatly missed.
Enid slipped away peacefully with all of her grandchildren at her side, reminiscing and sharing many stories of the ways in which their grandmother enriched their lives and how blessed they felt to have truly known her as a person, as well as a grandmother. Arrangements have been entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium in Yorkton.
A celebration of life will be held, August 26th 2023 at 1 pm at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 165 – 2 Ave North, Yorkton with the Reverend Deacon Luanne Hrywkiw presiding. Interment will take place at the Columbarium of Holy Trinity Anglican Church following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Holy Trinity Anglican Church as a token of remembrance.
