Nash – Ralph “Barry”
Ralph “Barry” Nash passed away peacefully at home, in Brant County, on August 14, 2023, at the age of 83 after a valiant 19-year battle with prostate cancer.
Born in London, ON, Barry spent his childhood summers at his family cottage in Port Stanley and is predeceased by his mother, Thelma Ross and father, Sidney Nash. Barry married the love of his life, Judy (nee Horsfield) and is also survived by his two children, Lee Anne Muller (Gerry), James “Jim” Nash and his two grandsons, Devonte Nash (Sean Trainor) and William Muller. Barry was a beloved father and brother figure to many extended family members and friends.
Having lived in London for most of their life, Barry and Judy decided to move to their dream home on Fanshawe Lake where they enjoyed lake life with a great community of neighbours and friends before moving to Brant County to live with Lee Anne and Gerry in 2019.
Barry passionately lived the life he loved. At the age of 51 he retired from Ford Motor Company in Talbotville to follow his dream to fish fulltime with his business Blue Goose Fishing Charters. As a pioneer in the recreational fishing businesses, Captain Barry was very involved in the local fisheries and was a strong advocate for the rehabilitation of Lake Erie’s water quality and fishery health. From catching trophy salmon on Lake Ontario, fishing Lake Huron from Port Franks to Port Elgin or catching Lake Erie walleye from Port Colborne to Erieau, Captain Barry made lifelong friends, mentored young angler’s and created adventures wherever he went. At the age of 80, Barry fulfilled another life-long fishing dream when he founded Triple Threat Lures.
Throughout his life Barry also loved golfing, playing darts, hunting, dog training, field trials and trap shooting. Barry’s zest for life, his sense of humour and compassion for others leaves a legacy of wonderful memories to those who knew him.
A celebration of Barry’s life will be held in London at a later date. An update will be provided once the fishing season is over.
