SURETTE, Laurie Mae – It is with great sadness that we regretfully announce the passing of Laurie Mae Surette of Surette’s Island, Nova Scotia. Laurie was born in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and she was a daughter of the late Herman and Mary Martha (Muise) Surette.
Laurie is survived by her brothers, Blair, Surette’s Island, Nova Scotia and Brian (Jeanne), Wedgeport, Nova Scotia; special friend, Roger Simon, Cap-Aux-Meules, Québec.
Laurie was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island. She retired as a devoted Administrative Assistant with the Federal Department of Fisheries/Canada Food Inspection Agency after 37 years of loyal dedicated service.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Yarmouth. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 16, with prayers at 7 p.m. in the funeral home in Yarmouth. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Surette’s Island. Donations in Laurie’s memory may be made to the St. Joseph’s Cemetery Fund.
