It is with profound sadness that our family announces the untimely passing of Bruce on Monday, August 14, 2023, at age 67. Devoted son of the late Dr. Lionel and Sarah Metrick. Bruce was a wonderful brother, a terrific brother-in-law and a kind uncle to his nephews. He cherished family and his close friendships. Bruce will be remembered for his kindness, his thoughtfulness, his interest in people, his compassionate nature, and his conscientiousness in work and in all endeavours. He enjoyed people and sports, especially tennis and basketball. A graduate of Carleton University, Bruce lived his entire life in Ottawa. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends, and particularly by his sister, Laura (Dr. Peter Stenn). The family wishes to thank Bruce’s palliative care team, his other caregivers, and his close friends, who visited so frequently during his illness. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 16 at 1:00 pm in the Cwinn Chapel at the Jewish Memorial Gardens, 6549 Herberts Corners Road, Osgoode Ontario . Donations in his memory can be made to Hillel Lodge LTC Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

We offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Bruce Metrick Monday August 14th 2023 and hope that their memory may be a source of comfort during this difficult time. Your thoughts and kind words are greatly appreciated.
Very sorry to hear of Bruce’s passing. He was a wonderful person with a big heart. Over the years I have had countless conversations with Bruce about all kinds of sports. He was the very first person I sold a membership to back in 1983 at the Ottawa Athletic Club and we remained friends for the 37 years while working there being one of my favourite members. Bruce was a big personality with an even bigger smile. Over the years Bruce always found it in his heart to donate to many of the charities I was involved with which was a testament to his generosity and character. I have such fond memories of Bruce and I will always cherish them. He was a good man. My thoughts and prayers are with all the family. May Bruce rest in peace.
My husband Stan and I wish to send our Sincere Sympathies to Bruce’s family. We got to know Bruce while living in his apartment building, but REALLY got to know him while attending Grey Cup & Super Bowl Parties at a mutual friend’s place. He knew EVERYTHING! about football, and about the different players, old and knew. Such fun memories. We’re so glad we got to know him and are very sad that he lost his fight with cancer. He will be missed. ????
