Obituary
Walter James Hawksworth, 91, died peacefully in the early hours of Saturday, August 5th, 2023, with his beloved wife, Lisa and daughter, Mandy by his side.
Walter was born on February 24th, 1932 in Debden, SK to Otillia Ingvarda Svarte and Arther Douglas Hawksworth.
He was an industrious man who joined his brother Norman in California to work in the 50s. Upon their return to Canada, Walter worked in mines across British Colombia and northern Alberta. He later found stability working for a union as a carpenter.
Walter’s true devotion was to his family and home life. In July 1983, he wed Lisa in Iloilo, Philippines. When Lisa moved to Canada, they settled in Mirror, Alberta, where they worked on their home and garden and raised their two children, Marc and Mandy.
Walter is survived by his wife Elisa Hawksworth; his daughters Mandy Hawksworth, Rosalee Gillespie, and Tamara Horvath; and his sister Laurine Darwin.
He was preceded in death by his son, Marc Hawksworth; his parents; his brother, Norman Hawksworth; and his sisters, Doris Mickelson, Evelyn Tymchuk, Elsie Hawksworth, Jeanette Heiden and Margaret Hayhurst.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th at the Mirror Community Hall to be followed by the Interment Service at the Mirror Cemetery and lunch at the Community Hall.
