Ruth O’Blenis
1925-2023
Ruth Patricia O’Blenis, 97, a lifelong resident of
Boundary Creek passed away peacefully at home Thursday, August 10,
2023.
Born in Lower Cape, Albert County, she
was a daughter of the late Henry and Frances (Tingley) Nelson. A
trained nurse, her early years of nursing were in Riverside and
then to Boundary Creek where she was caring for an
elderly client. Here is where she met George, the love of her life for
76 years.
Working side by side with George, they built
O’Blenis Auto Body into a family business which is still operating
today. She was inducted into the Maritime Motorsport Hall of Fame. Her
love of sanding, masking and painting cars led her to become the first
woman in NB to receive an Auto Body Repair License.
She was an awesome cook and she enjoyed knitting
and sewing. Her hobbies included auction 45, crossword puzzles, bingo
and dominos in which she excelled in all.
Survived and sadly missed by her
children Allan (Brenda), Roy (Sharon), Faye Saurette (Denis), Nina
Jones (Raymond) and Rae; sisters Marie Nelson and Frances Douthwright
and several grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren, nieces
and nephews. Predeceased by her husband George; sisters Lucy Mills and
Martha Nelson and brothers Jack, Roy and Clark.
A graveside service for family and
friends will be held Monday, August 14 at 2 p.m. from the Boundary
Creek Cemetery with Rev. Terry Atkinson officiating.
If desired memorials to the Boundary Creek
Cemetery or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in the care of the Salisbury Funeral Home and
Crematorium ( 372-4800).
